The motion that drives the track chain of an excavator is powered by the generator and transmitted through the running motor and sprocket rim. To ensure the smooth operation of the excavator, it is crucial that the teeth of the sprocket rim fit snugly with the track chain, maintaining a reliable and steady drive. Despite potential wear and tear of the chain's pin and bushing that may cause it to stretch, the teeth of the sprocket rim should still be able to fit properly. In most cases, the sprocket rim is positioned at the rear of the running device of the excavator for optimal performance.
